Jimmy Durkin , Gründungsmitglied und Gitarrist der Thrashikone DARK ANGEL ist am Mittwoch überraschend mit nur 58 Jahren verstorben. Er war zusammen mit Gene Hoglan, Don Doty, Rob Yahn und Jack Schwartz für solche Meilensteine des Thrashs wie “We Have Arrived” oder “Darkness Descends“ mitverantwortlich, bevor sich die Band 1992 zwischenzeitlich auflöste. Zuletzt hatten DARK ANGEL wieder getourt und an neuen Songs für ein zukünftiges Album gearbeitet.

DARK ANGEL veröffentlichten gestern Abend das folgende Statement:

“We in the Dark Angel Family are deeply saddened and crushed today with the news of our brother and founder Jimmy Durkin passing away Wednesday morning.

We would like to thank his fans for their continuous loyalty and support. We will come out with a full statement very soon. We ask that you please respect the family’s privacy while we mourn the loss of this great man.”
