Growler und Gitarrist Steve Buhl erklärt:
„‚Gross Abuse‘ is a basic death metal torture song. It’s so simple, heavy, and groovy. It’s heavy as fuck and just brutal – so we needed lyrics to match that. It’s your standard torture-fucking-murder-fucking-death metal song about killing somebody.“
