Schwedens Symphonic Metal Outfit TUNGSTEN gibt heute einen ersten Einblick in das vierte Album “The Grand Inferno“, das für den September auf dem Plan steht. Musikalisch zeigt sich in der ersten Auskopplung auch wieder verstärkt der Melodic Nordic Folk, der zur anstehenden Walpurgisnacht passt.
Keyboarder und Bassmann Karl Johansson meint:
“Mein Ziel war es, einen klassischen TUNGSTEN-Song mit starken Hooks und reichlich nordischem Folk-Einfluss zu schreiben. Zudem wollte ich mehr traditionelle Folkinstrumente und -gesänge einbinden, gepaart mit den für uns typischen Industrial-Klängen“
Vocalist Mike Andersson fügt noch hinzu:
„Die Textidee zur bezaubernden Musik, die Karl geschrieben hat, kam von ganz allein. Am 30. April wird in Schweden und Finnland ein Fest namens ‚Valborg‘, das anderorts auch als ‚Walpurgisnacht‘ bekannt ist, gefeiert. Dieses beruht auf einer uralten Tradition, die bis ins Mittelalter zurückreicht, als die Leute große Lagerfeuer entfachten, um den Winter quasi zu verbrennen und den Frühling willkommen zu heißen. Das Stück handelt also von jenen Feierlichkeiten, besitzt aber dennoch eine individuelle Note.“
Im September gehen TUNGSTEN im Vorprogramm von SONATA ARCITICA, FIREWIND, und SERIOUS BLACK auf Tour.
