Sahil:
“Musically this is one of the fastest songs on the album and yet also the most melodic. Lyrically the song talks about the current state of the world and how hateful the world is. The political and social divide, the hate in particular. I live in India which, like most countries, is experiencing a wave of hate. It’s always politicians and religious leaders riling up hate against minorities. We’re being consumed by it and everyday we see horrific news and crimes. In India, ever since the right-wing Hindu nationalist party came into power, there has been a surge in crimes against minorities, there have been attacks on students, journalists and activists being jailed and so on. They have employed hundreds of people into their IT cell and their only job is to spread propaganda and hate online. Not even Bollywood is spared. It’s a real sh*t show and this song is a reflection of the hate we are seeing in the world today.”

Lyrics:
They taught you to hate
A hate that was not born in you
Was the world always this cruel
Or am I only just made aware
Has the world been brought closer
Now I see the fabric of humanity tear
They build it, they build it
The monolith of hatred
They build it, they build it
Brick by brick they built it.
They build it, they build it
The monolith of their hatred
We may not be born of the same skin
Indoctrinated into different religions
False prophets breed false faith
Feed you a poison you can’t taste
They built it now
The monolith of hate
They built it, they built it
Brick by brick they built it
They built it, they built it
The monolith of their hatred
The hate within you is the poison
You and me we are not so different
Hate is the cancer of human nature
Slowly eroding, eternally rotting
Passed through the generations unwavering
Centuries of war, of blood that is spilling
Brick by brick by brick
The monolith of hatred
They built it, they built it
The monolith of their hatred
The hate within you is the poison
You and me we are not so different
How did we get so far
From that which makes us human?
Why did we close our hearts
And become so indifferent?
We die on this day
Our death will be the resistance
Monolith Odium
Rioters run amok
Killing women and children
The law turns a blind eye
Choosing not to see
The monolith of hate devours this world
These are state sponsored killings
The law turns a blind eye
The goons of politicians doing their bidding
Turn the narrative to suit your design
Turn the victims into perpetrators
How did we let the hate in our hearts?
Now you see this darkness growing
How did we lose our humanity
With all the bloodshed and the killing?
