Einige Mitglieder der Symphonic Metaller THERION stellen heute ihr Sideprojekt DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH vor, das vermutlich nach dem gleichnamigen Judas Priest Album benannt wurde und sich dem klassischen 80’s Heavy Metal verschreibt. Als erste Single ist soeben `Darkside Brigade´ samt Video erschienen, auf dem die beiden Sänger Diego Valdez und Chris Davidsson für Lead und Backing Vocals sorgen. Mastermind Christofer Jonhsson und Thomas Vikstörm sind natürlich auch mit an Bord. Das Debütalbum „Odes to the gods“ erscheint am 27. Juni.

„Just like the music of Therion, the compositions of Defenders of the Faith is a blend of a variety of styles. While Therion blend totally different music styles and a song could be mixing heavy metal, 70’s rock, opera, folk music and who knows what in the same song, D.O.F.T. is blending only various heavy metal styles and often different styles between the songs rather than too heavily blended within each song. Every track is usually inspired by either one or two bands. The main influences for the debut album are Accept, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Scorpions. But you also have some Saxon, Metal Church and Warrior.“
